326 on its first day:
In 2008 pink was voted the ‘in’ colour for men in business and I think it
looks rather bright and catchy on Lothian’s newest fleet in 2009. Despite
what you might read in the Edinburgh Evening News (and from some enthusiasts
too!) with regard to what kind of pink it is then let me advise that the
official term for the livery is ‘candy pink’.

There’s a new gold trim around the margin of the paintwork and also below
the upper windows. The 22-Connect symbol is very stylish and matches the one
used on service 26-Connect (fleet numbers 301-325) introduced earlier in the
summer.

Accessibility and comfort are LB’s priorities for the new pink 22’s. Prams,
buggies, wheelchairs, bicycles, cellos, double basses and bulky luggage can
all be accommodated more easily now and entry to the vehicle can be aligned
virtually level with the pavement, thus allowing all gadgets on wheels to
glide from the street onto the bus with no step to negotiate.
For wheelchair users here’s some advice from LB’s press release on September
the1st:

‘Upon boarding one of our buses please ensure you:
Park the wheelchair in the dedicated space with the back of the wheelchair
facing the front of the bus.
Apply the brake.

The driver will wait until this is done before moving the bus
When you are ready to leave the bus, ring the bell so that the driver knows
you intend to leave the bus’.

Here’s the first of the fleet of twenty five Wright Eclipse Gemini 2’s,
number 326 at the Gyle shopping centre on its first day in service,
the 1st of September.
